Jan 29, 2025 – Get ready for an unprecedented viewing experience at this year’s Super Bowl LIX! Sony, the official technology partner of the NFL, is pulling out all the stops to ensure fans don’t miss a moment of the action. With over 240 cameras deployed in and around the Caesars Superdome, Sony is set to capture every play, replay, interview, and celebration in stunning detail.
FOX Sports will utilize more than 100 of Sony’s professional broadcast cameras, along with additional studio shows and pre-game, in-game, and post-game coverage. These cameras will be strategically placed in each end zone, along the sidelines, and even in the “SkyCam” over the field. This year, 14 Sony cameras will specifically handle streaming content, ensuring fans worldwide get the best view possible.
“The Super Bowl is not just the biggest game of the year, it is also the biggest production,” says Michael Davies, FOX Sports EVP Field Operations. “Our job is to tell the story of the game, capturing the energy within the stadium and keeping billions of viewers engaged, and Sony is a key tool in reaching that goal.”
Sony’s collaboration doesn’t stop there. The Associated Press and the NFL’s in-house photography team, NFL Focus, will utilize Sony’s Alpha™ interchangeable lens cameras and E-mount lenses, including the G Master™, to create timeless Super Bowl imagery. AP will have 14 photographers and 9 editors on-site, while the NFL Focus team will also be equipped with Sony gear to capture every defining moment.
Additionally, Sony’s HawkREPLAY systems and other Hawk-Eye technology will support instant replay and in-game officiating, enhancing the overall broadcast experience. For the fifth consecutive year, the Funicular Goats will technically produce the Super Bowl Halftime Show, using 14 Sony Cinema Line cameras, including the VENICE 2 and BURANO.
“The Super Bowl is the most watched event of the year, and delivering an authentic and immersive experience for coaches, players, and fans requires a wide array of advanced technologies,” says Gary Brantley, Chief Information Officer of the NFL. “Sony has been instrumental in enhancing the game-day experience with its innovative solutions, and we are proud to have Sony play a key role in making Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans unforgettable.”
With Sony’s decades-long record of imaging innovation and production expertise, fans can expect nothing short of spectacular coverage at Super Bowl LIX.
